Mike Vernal

Mike Vernal is a General Partner on the Seed team at Sequoia Capital, based in San Francisco, California. Before joining the venture firm in July 2023, he served as Vice President of Product at Meta from 2020 to 2023, where he directed product development for the platform's core groups and marketplace divisions. Previously, he worked as Vice President of Engineering and Product at Snapchat between 2015 and 2019, following his tenure as an early software engineer at Slide prior to its corporate acquisition. The Harvard University computer science graduate has led more than twenty investments at his current firm, recently directing major 2024 funding rounds for emerging artificial intelligence startups including xAI. Vernal currently focuses his capital deployment on early-stage venture allocations across the artificial intelligence, consumer internet, social platform, and developer tool sectors.
