Tom Steyer

Tom Steyer is the Board Chair of Galvanize Climate Solutions and Founder and Co-Chair of NextGen America, based in San Francisco, California. He previously founded Farallon Capital Management in 1986, growing the hedge fund to $40 billion in assets under management before his departure in 2014. Earlier in his career, Steyer worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Hellman & Friedman after graduating from Stanford Law School. Through Galvanize Climate Solutions, which currently manages over $3 billion, he recently raised a $1.6 billion fund in 2024 dedicated to clean energy investments. As a philanthropist and former Democratic presidential candidate, he has pledged more than $1 billion to charitable causes and mobilized over one million young voters through NextGen America. His current focus centers entirely on climate technology investing and political advocacy for environmental sustainability.
