Tom Baruch is the Founder of Baruch Future Ventures and a Senior Advisor to Breakthrough Energy Ventures, a major climate fund founded by Bill Gates. He previously spent twelve years at ExxonMobil leading advanced materials investments before founding CMEA Capital in 1989 alongside NEA and 3M Corporation. While managing over one billion dollars across seven funds at CMEA, Baruch led eighteen initial public offerings and eight acquisitions, including ten portfolio exits exceeding one billion dollars in valuation. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Microwave Technology Incorporated for six years, cofounded Formation 8 in 2011, and funded over twelve synthetic biology companies without recording any losses. Holding degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Capital University, his current investment focus centers on early stage climate technology and decarbonization initiatives, including coinvestments in Fervo Energy and Kobold Metals.
