Tikhon Bernstam is the Managing Partner at Uncommon Capital, based in San Francisco, California. He began his career as an engineer and physicist, graduating at the top of his computer science class at Dartmouth College before dropping out of a physics doctoral program to pursue entrepreneurship. Bernstam subsequently co-founded two major technology companies, including the digital library platform Scribd and the backend software provider Parse. Parse launched in the summer of 2011 and was later acquired by Facebook, establishing his track record in scaling developer tools. At Uncommon Capital, he now directs investments across pre-seed through Series A funding rounds, targeting B2B software, financial technology, and marketplace startups. His current focus centers on leveraging his technical background to assist early stage portfolio companies with engineering recruitment, organizational culture development, and subsequent fundraising efforts.
