Steve Chen is an entrepreneur and investor best known as the co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer of YouTube, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to launching the video-sharing platform in 2005 alongside Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim, he worked as an early software engineer at PayPal. Under his technical leadership, YouTube experienced rapid user adoption, culminating in its acquisition by Google for $1.65 billion in 2006. Chen previously studied computer science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2007. In recent years, he has allocated capital toward early-stage technology ventures, including a 2021 investment in the food delivery startup Nomad Foods.
