Shamir Karkal

Shamir Karkal is an early-stage investor and advisor based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, who previously served as the Managing Director at SIBIA Analytics. As a technology entrepreneur, he co-founded the digital payment platform ZipCash, which was successfully acquired by PayU in 2014. He subsequently co-founded FreeCharge, a prominent financial technology company that Snapdeal acquired for a reported $405 million in 2015. Karkal holds a Bachelor of Science from Bangalore University, a Master's degree from the Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from the Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business. Throughout his career, he has maintained an active presence as an angel investor within the Indian technology ecosystem. Following his major exits in the digital payments sector, his current focus remains on funding and advising early-stage fintech and e-commerce startups.
