Ryan Sarver

Ryan Sarver is the Managing Partner of Sarver Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California. Before launching his own firm, he served as the Director of Open Source Strategy at GitHub, which was acquired by Microsoft for $7.5 billion, and as the Head of Platform Ecosystem at Heroku prior to its acquisition by Salesforce. His earlier career includes technology roles at Mozilla and Rackspace after studying computer science at the University of Texas at Austin. In March 2025, he launched a $50 million seed fund to back software and infrastructure startups, building upon a personal portfolio of more than twenty early-stage technology investments. Currently advising the artificial intelligence startup Replicate, Sarver leverages his product management background to focus his investments on developer tools, cloud infrastructure, and open-source software ecosystems.
