Roelof Botha

Roelof Botha is an Advisor to Sequoia Capital, having previously served as the firm's Managing Partner from 2022 until his resignation in November 2025. Before joining Sequoia as a partner in 2003, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of PayPal from 2000 to 2003, guiding the payments enterprise through its 2002 initial public offering. During his tenure at Sequoia, Botha generated more than $50 billion in profits for limited partners by leading early-stage and growth investments in prominent technology companies including YouTube and Block. He currently holds several board positions across the technology sector, notably serving as the chairman of Unity Technologies since October 2023, while also maintaining directorships at Landis and mmhmm. His current focus remains on advising software, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence startups, drawing upon his extensive operational and venture capital background.
