Rob May is the Managing Partner of Rob May Ventures, an early-stage investment vehicle based in Austin, Texas. Previously, he served as the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Backblaze from 2007 to 2013, and later held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Cloudflare between 2013 and 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stanford University, where he also worked in the Office of Technology Licensing. As an investor, May has backed more than 50 companies, including a recent Series B investment in the artificial intelligence security startup Protect AI in February 2024. He authored "The Venture Investor’s Guidebook" in 2024 and maintains an audience of over 100,000 followers on social media. His current focus centers on early-stage capital allocation across the cybersecurity, machine learning, and infrastructure software sectors.
