Peter Sonsini

Peter Sonsini is a General Partner at New Enterprise Associates based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he co-heads the firm's enterprise practice. Before joining the venture capital firm in 2005, he served as Senior Director of Strategic Alliances at VMware, helping to build the software company's initial partner ecosystem prior to its acquisition by EMC. As an investor, he has directed capital into prominent cloud and infrastructure technology companies, including early backing for Databricks and a board observer role at Snowflake. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His current investment focus centers on early-stage enterprise software, open-source technologies, and cloud computing infrastructure across the North American market.
