Prior to establishing the hardware company alongside his high school peer Sam Mendel, Kim gained professional experience through technical roles associated with Goodwater Capital and Inari. In his current executive capacity, he oversees the engineering of underwater data centers that utilize seawater cooling to achieve up to a 40% reduction in overall power consumption. Under his technical leadership, NetworkOcean launched from the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch on August 15, 2024, and subsequently announced plans to submerge a GPU server capsule in the San Francisco Bay. Kim leverages his academic background in physics and computer science to focus on scaling sustainable, energy-efficient cloud computing infrastructure with facility capacities exceeding 200 megawatts.
