In his current executive capacity, he oversees the engineering of underwater data centers that utilize seawater cooling to achieve up to a 40% reduction in overall power consumption. Under his technical leadership, NetworkOcean launched from the Y Combinator Summer 2024 batch on August 15, 2024, and subsequently announced plans to submerge a GPU server capsule in the San Francisco Bay. Kim leverages his academic background in physics and computer science to focus on scaling sustainable, energy-efficient cloud computing infrastructure with facility capacities exceeding 200 megawatts.
