Daniel Kan

Daniel Kan is the Founder of Fifth Door and is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. He previously served as Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Cruise, an autonomous vehicle company he launched alongside Kyle Vogt that was acquired by General Motors in 2016 for over $1 billion. During his tenure, the artificial intelligence and transportation startup scaled significantly, eventually reaching a valuation exceeding $30 billion before his departure in November 2023. Prior to Cruise, Kan co-founded the on-demand service platform Exec, a Y Combinator-backed venture that was successfully acquired by Handy in 2014. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Psychology from Claremont McKenna College. His current professional focus centers on building and scaling venture-backed consumer technology and artificial intelligence startups from early inception through major corporate acquisitions.
