The IPCEI ME/CT program spearheads European research, development, and industrial deployment in microelectronics and communication technology. It drives innovation across the entire value chain, from advanced materials and chip designs to manufacturing and application development. Core technological areas include 5G/6G, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.
Approved by the European Commission on June 8, 2023, this strategic initiative addresses Europe's need for greater technological autonomy. The program was conceptualized to bolster industrial capabilities and reduce external dependencies within the vital microelectronics sector, uniting resources from member states to tackle shared strategic challenges effectively.
The program unites 68 projects from 56 companies, both large and small, across fourteen European nations. Participants cultivate a collaborative innovation ecosystem through cross-border partnerships. Its vision is to secure Europe's digital sovereignty, promote sustainability, and ensure safety and security for its future digital infrastructure.
